The Indianapolis Zen Center offers the practice of Zen Buddhism, in a traditional lineage, to the people of central Indiana. Our programs include Foundations of Zen classes, retreats with authentic teachers, public dharma talks, traditional ceremonies and a weekly schedule of practice sessions. These activities are designed to support and inspire the pursuit of our ancient practice. Established in 1991, the Indianapolis Zen Center is a part of the Kwan Um School of Zen, an international organization founded by Zen Master Seung Sahn, the first Korean Zen Master to live and teach in the West. The Kwan Um School of Zen has over 100 centers and groups world-wide. Our Guiding Teacher, Lincoln Rhodes, Ji Do Poep Sa Nim (Guide to the Way) is one of Zen Master Seung Sahn’s earliest dharma heirs. We have several upcoming events including introductory classes, retreats and dharma talks. For more information, click on Upcoming Events on the left side of this page. Feel free to visit us during any of our regularly scheduled practices. If you are new to Zen practice, we recommend a short orientation.
